‘Dark Knight Rises’ Could Be Best Batman Yet

Warner Brothers has to be happy to have to comb the internet taking down unofficial Batman trailers. The last installment in the Dark Knight trilogy comes to theaters next summer, and the buzz is building. The official trailer is part of a massive digital campaign to promote the film. The trailer precedes major box office draws for the holiday season as expected, and WB has taken the preview further with what was an exclusive preview on iTunes (until it hit YouTube) and an eight-minute trailer in IMAX theaters before the latest Mission Impossible film.

In this installment the villain “Bane”, played by Tom Hardy, may actually top Heath Ledger’s Joker as Batman’s nemesis . Where Joker was bent on carrying out mayhem, Bane’s plan is larger and calculated. Early feedback says Bane is ruthless and terrifying.

‘The style is heavy-handed, heavy-footed, it’s nasty,’ Hardy stated in a recent interview with Empire magazine.

‘Anything from small joint manipulation to crushing skulls, crushing rib cages, stamping on shins and knees and necks and collarbones and snapping heads off and tearing his fists through chests, ripping out spinal columns. It’s anything he can get away with.’

Hardy doesn’t think he will become a household name playing the villain, since his face is masked, something that has proven pragmatic in understanding Bane’s British accent. Filmmaker Christopher Nolan has been asked to make Bane’s dialogue easier to hear. A source close to the production has since revealed that Warner Bros are aware of the sound issues, saying that they are “scared to death about the Bane problem.”

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Nolan has only agreed to tweak it slightly rather than make any drastic changes. He wants the audience to be engaged in the film rather than having everything spoon-fed to them.
The Pittsburgh Steelers are in the film, and I’m sure anti-Steelers fans will be delighted to see the team destroyed by Bane, all except Hines Ward of course. Apparently winning “Dancing With The Stars” gets you points and some kind of amnesty. The destruction of Heinz Field in the trailer is our introduction to Bane.
Also new to this trilogy, Catwoman played by Anne Hathaway. She may bring more depth the role than previous efforts, if her excellent delivery in the clip below is any indication of her performance in the rest of the film. “The Dark Knight Rises’ comes to theaters in Summer 2012.
